A little about me…..

Almost 20 years ago, I headed to Australia with a brand-new Nikon SLR, two new lenses, 36 rolls of film and two photography books. This was my start into the wonderful world of photography. Although, my mom will tell you that even as a little boy I loved to point out interesting angles in nature and architecture and I was always commenting on colourful sunsets and interesting landscapes.

Ten years ago, I was able to turn this love of photography into a career. I’ve been lucky to shoot images while hanging out of helicopters over this beautiful province of ours, I’ve covered events in Moncton, NB, conferences in Quebec, shows in Ontario. I’ve shot agriculture and industry images all over the prairies and have created business images in beautiful British Columbia. I’ve shot in tropical destinations such as Jamaica, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Mexico and all over the U.S.

Although it doesn’t matter where I am, my favourite thing about my job is meeting amazing people who do amazing things all over the world. It could be shooting today’s NHL stars while covering events and games for the Calgary Flames, shooting the CEO of an upstart oil and gas company, working with the wonderful kids at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, covering a farmer in his fields at harvest or capturing one of the many wonderful families who have trusted me with keeping their memories for the past decade.

Knowing the technical side of photography and having an eye are a must in creating great images, but I truly think my biggest asset as a photographer is my love of people and the ability to make even the most camera-shy people feel comfortable.

When I’m not taking photos of interesting people and places, I live in south Calgary with my wife Tanja our two boys Landon and Lochlan and our Boston Terrier Lola. My spare time is filled with friends and family hopefully camping, golfing, curling, and traveling.

Thanks for visiting. If you are in search of a photographer I would love to chat with you about your exciting project, wedding or family photos.

 Sincerely,

 Rob McMorris
